I am getting excited! In just a few days, we’ll be kicking off our campaign to sign up 1000 bloggers for the Worlds Biggest Blog Party (WBBP). Thanks to an article in my home paper yesterday, I have receieved several emails and calls for people who want to “party with a purpose” including a lady whose 7 and 10 year old daughters raise money for Habitat for Humanity. I have also communicated with the guy who writes Olive’s blog (the 104 year old blogger from
Ireland). I have heard from a UT student who wants to use the party for his practicum.
This bit of interest has started me thinking about a “dream list” - people I’d like to include in this party to write entries. So here’s a quick start of my dream team of people I’d like to blog for the party: the founders of Google, Bill and Melinda Gates, Warren Buffett, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, Jimmy Carter, Maya Angelou, Barbara Walters, Mark Zuckerberg, Founder of Facebook.com, Phillip Berber, founder of CyBerCorp, Oprah, Warrick Dunn, Atlanta Falcons running back and NFL Man of the Year, Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize winner, Margaret Thatcher, a hip hop artist making a difference…that’s a start. I am missing a few people. Help me out. I’d like to include a “dream team” blog roll on this page and I’d like you to add to it. See you September 11th either live on right here on line.
Soon, we’ll be adding a help wanted section. If you’d like to volunteer to help, let us know so together we can connect the globe for good.

It’s official. The kick off party is on to recruit bloggers for The Worlds Biggest Blog Party. We are looking for 1000 people from around the world who will use blogging to raise at least a million dollars for organizations that have a global reach. How’s that for a lofty goal.
As you know if you are reading this, aimlessly browsing the internet can suck away hours that can never be regained. So why not use blogging and social networking to turn one of the biggest potential time-wasters into a way to make a global difference.
I think September 11th is an ideal date to get people thinking about making a positive difference in the world by simply writing about people and organizations making a difference and directing donations toward those causes. So whether you’re a blogger or lurker, join us at Capitol Coffee, 127 W. Broadway at 7:30 for the “Heavy Mental†music of international award-winning singer/song writer Jana Stanfield. Stanfield’s songs, recorded by Reba McEntire and other well known music stars, have been heard on 20/20, Entertainment Tonight, Oprah, the movie “8 Seconds†and radio stations nationwide. She has shared stages with Kenny Loggins, Lily Tomlin, Patty Duke, Gloria Steinem and the Dixie Chicks. Jana volunteers each summer at Muscular Dystrophy camp for kids and performs annually on the national broadcast of the Jerry Lewis Telethon. Her blog will benefit children and adults with Muscular Dystrophy.
The World’s Biggest Blog Party Kick-off Concert is open to anyone who wants to enjoy a humorous musical show, and to bloggers who want to be one of the 1000 people connecting the world for good.
RSVP to: Michele Uchiyama at Media@TimRichardson.com if you are planning to attend.

Go to the about page for more details.
How it started: Several months ago, my family and I were attending a “debt free†party at the home of our friends David and Tia Graham. We were sitting around in the afternoon enjoying a beautiful spring afternoon, when the conversation turned toward blogging. I opened my mouth and out came this statement, “What if we were to have a blog-a-thon?†The group latched on to the concept which was the spring board for the World’s Biggest Blog Party. What started as an idea to get us all together at an coffee shop and see if they would let us blog on site all night, has led to an effort that will involve people all around the globe. Though there really wasn’t time in a busy fall speaking schedule, the idea continued to occupy my thinking with bigger and better twist. It just wouldn’t go away. I saw that as a sign that I just had to get this party started!
After the decision was made to have the party, I bumped into a speaking colleague, Jana Stanfield, on a flight home from San Diego. We ended up sitting together and we talked the entire flight which resulted in some incredible ideas for both of us.
Jana has a great song off one of her Brave Faith which includes these lyrics: What would I do today, if I were brave? If I were brave I’d:
- inspire people in countries all over the world to make a difference
- invite celebrities, best selling authors, top professional speakers, former US presidents and other world leaders to participate in sharing their giving
- think bigger and broader than I have ever thought
- raise money for causes I care about and support and inspire others to do the same
- utilize the power of technology to do something with far greater impact that I had previously imagined.
What would YOU do today if you were brave? Join the journey…
