New Charity:
Last night we had our live kick-0ff event: an intimate (yet so inspiring and exciting) concert at the Capital Theater with Jana Stanfield, “The Queen of Heavy Mental”. We sat on comfy couches and munched on cheese straws and veggies dipped in “Cheese Nirvana” dip (thanks Mrs. SmallWorld!), meeting one another, bloggers new and old. We had some of our first charities represented and as the evening progressed, so did the synergistic vibe as it began to dawn on those there how powerful this thing could be! It’s a BRAVE endeavor, one that seeks to really impact those who need it. If we get 1000 bloggers to raise $1000 dollars, we will have raised ONE MILLION dollars to Connect the Globe For Good!!!!!

I am getting excited! In just a few days, we’ll be kicking off our campaign to sign up 1000 bloggers for the Worlds Biggest Blog Party (WBBP). Thanks to an article in my home paper yesterday, I have receieved several emails and calls for people who want to “party with a purpose” including a lady whose 7 and 10 year old daughters raise money for Habitat for Humanity. I have also communicated with the guy who writes Olive’s blog (the 104 year old blogger from
This bit of interest has started me thinking about a “dream list” - people I’d like to include in this party to write entries. So here’s a quick start of my dream team of people I’d like to blog for the party: the founders of Google, Bill and Melinda Gates, Warren Buffett, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, Jimmy Carter, Maya Angelou, Barbara Walters, Mark Zuckerberg, Founder of Facebook.com, Phillip Berber, founder of CyBerCorp, Oprah, Warrick Dunn, Atlanta Falcons running back and NFL Man of the Year, Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize winner, Margaret Thatcher, a hip hop artist making a difference…that’s a start. I am missing a few people. Help me out. I’d like to include a “dream team” blog roll on this page and I’d like you to add to it. See you September 11th either live on right here on line.
Soon, we’ll be adding a help wanted section. If you’d like to volunteer to help, let us know so together we can connect the globe for good.
